This spring we visited Westbank park to go on a scavenger hunt for signs of spring. The children spotted buds on trees, daffodils, shoots in the soil and squirrels eating seeds. They ticked them all off on their little lists. We listened to the birds and we were very excited when we came across frogspawn in the pond. The Frogs were everywhere and very noisy. We decided that we would come and have a look every week to see how the frogspawn changed over time.
During these weeks the children talked a lot about what happens to frogspawn, we found a lovely book in the library that told us all about the life cycle of a frog.
Some children enjoyed drawing their own pictures, and we all had a go at cutting and sticking the life cycle work sheets.
The frogspawn soon turned to tadpoles, we visited last week and lots of them had began to grow their back legs.
